Merz - a Kurt Schwitters evening with Steffen Shortie Scheumann & Volker Pohlmann

On October 20, 2022, the actor Steffen Shortie Scheumann and the musician Volker Pohlmann will remember Kurt Schwitters and his MERZ lecture evenings in the Ballhaus Wedding, which combined Cabaret Voltaire with Dada in the 20s and 30s.

The painter Kurt Schwitters presented his own poems, prose, critical texts and graphic artists through contact with Herwarth Walden's "Sturm" circle and developed a diverse and intensive activity as a collagist and writer between 1918 and 1933. From 1923 to 1932 he published his MERZ series of publications, which, in addition to his own artistic and literary works, presented many outstanding avant-garde artists of the time and organized MERZ lecture evenings in the spirit of the Dadaist "Cabaret Voltaire".
