On August 11, 1973, DJ Kool Herc presented the first breakbeats in New York. And now, 50 years later, we are celebrating this milestone birthday, on August 11th, 2023, in the Astra Kulturhaus Berlin. As a Hip Hop lover you should not miss this special day. We start at 3 p.m. with musical accompaniment from DJ San Gabriel (Hip Hop Don't Stop/Asafo Wear/Accra/Berlin) in the summer garden. There you will find various information stands from our partners and supporters, such as Defshop, Purize, Hip Hop Academy, "The 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop" and many more. Greed welcomes you to a "It's just rap" cypher, where everyone can participate to present their lyrics and/or freestyle skills. If you fancy a new hairstyle, a barber and a braider from "Ebony & Ivory"/"Curlture" are available for you. Or you can have a new tattoo done by Pilu von Wehrmak and Stichhexe, which will remind you of this special day forever. We have put together battles in all elements for this day. The "Flying Steps Academy" presents the Breakdance Battle, the DJ Battle is organized by the "Super Hero DJs". There will also be a beatbox and a graffiti battle. Krom, Muro, Kato and Cashisclay compete against each other in a small "Freestylemania" and in the "Bloodsport" acapella match of the evening Kid Soldier meets Meidi. Of course, there will also be a cypher in which one or the other surprise guest will step, and the demolition is pre-programmed with the following live acts: Veysel, Eko Fresh, Liquit Walker and Friends, Cashisclay, S-Rok and Soulrock. The evening will be rounded off with an after-show party, where the baddest DJs in the mother city will be at the start: DJ Pete, Harris, DJ Danetic and DJ Smolface (Beathoavenz) LET'S HAVE THE BEST PARTY!
