We are celebrating the legendary African Cultural Salons MoKATO, which we hosted from 2000 to 2002, after 25 years with "MoKATO Reloaded," in the former KATO, now BiNUU.
Concerts, jam sessions, film, poetry, DJs, open mic, buffet
Young people and those who weren't there back then will experience with "old" artists and activists who are still alive what we made possible 100 times on Mondays with African roots and the rest of the world – and strengthen multicultural Berlin.

The story
Together with the Together with Brazilian cultural mediator Tania Taterka, musicians Djatou & Souleymane Touré from Ivory Coast, and a team from Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Jamaica, Kenya, Nigeria, Nowhereland, Russia, Senegal, Sudan, the USA, and Zimbabwe, we brought MoKATO to life with heart.
MoKATO offered an opportunity to make Berlin more multicultural. Activists met artists and cultural workers, exchanged ideas, and looked forward to diverse collaborations with open-minded people. Initial conversations took place here, which then spread to other projects. The MoKATO regular meeting, with its salon-like atmosphere, struck a balance between the audience, the stage program, and an open microphone for news, activities, and stories.

"Nit Nitay Garabam," say the Senegalese in Woloff, was our motto: People are the Healing Power for People. We are medicine!
For this, we need meeting places, places to get to know each other and exchange ideas.
