Stattnacht: Summer Closing

Halbzeit 2014. Eine gute Gelegenheit, um sich für ein paar Wochen in den Urlaub zu verziehen. Aber keine Sorge, wir hauen nicht ohne die obligatorische Summer Closing Party ab. Und unser heutiges Programm hat es in sich: Da wäre zum einen die venezolanische Performance-Sängerin Aérea Negrot. Als ehemaliger Teil der Hercules & Love Affair Crew veröffentlicht sie seit 2011 auf Ellen Allien Label BPitch Control und überzeugte auf ihrem Debütalbum „Arabxilla“ mit balladesker Sexyness zwischen Theatralik und Pop-Appeal. Außerdem freuen wir uns auf den ausgebildeten Schlagzeuger und Violinisten John Roberts. Mit seinem Deep House auf dem Hamburger Label Dial hat sich der New Yorker in nur wenigen Jahren einen bemerkenswerten Trademark-Sound erarbeitet. Während unser In-House-Kunstexperte Deviant Groove die Party mit seinen Tunes einleiten wird, ist der Niederländer Matthew Dekay für das Closing verantwortlich. Als Partner In Crime von Lee Burridge sind seine Sets mit einer Auswahl von Burial, Robag Wruhme und einer Vielzahl an neuen Perlen immer wieder ein Garant für strahlende Gesichter auf unserem Boiler Floor. Ohne die gehörige Tracht Techno-Prügel wollen wir Euch jedoch nicht gehen lassen. Für den 4/4-Einlauf mit der speziellen Acid-Note wird unter anderem der Berliner Milton Bradley zuständig sein. Als Dauergast im STATTBAD sind sowohl seine Releases auf dem eigenen Imprint Do Not Resist The Beat!, sein Alien Rain-Projekt als auch seine mitunter nostalgischen Sets eine Bank in Sachen Ekstase. Nachdem Ed Davenport im Mai bereits seinen Geburtstag bei uns feierte, freuen wir uns auf eines seiner an Drama und Identität interessierten Sets. Der gebürtige Brite und Labelchef von Counterchange Records hat sich im Frühling nicht nur mit dem Produzenten Function zusammengetan – ihr Release „Odean/Rhyl“ gehört jetzt schon zu den besten 2014 –, Davenport ist auch Teil des Relaunches des renommierten Labels Infrastructure New York. Seine DJ-Sets sind wahre Entdeckungsreisen mit einem hohen narrativen Geist und einer Menge Interesse an Techno rechts und links vom stumpfen Geballer. Zu guter Letzt wird unser Resident Viktoria auf dem Bunker Floor ein Closing-Set spielen. Nach der jungen Gründung ihres eigenen Labels Viktoria Records gibt es also ausreichend Gründe, um ausgelassen zu feiern. Our summer starts with a boom!

Half of 2014 is over; it’s a good opportunity to drift off to some weeks of vacation. But don’t worry; we won’t slip away without the mandatory Summer Closing Party. And tonight’s program is the real deal with the Venezuelan singer and performance artist Aérea Negrot. As a former member of the Hercules And Love Affair crew, she publishes on Ellen Allien’s label BPitch Control since 2011. Her debut record „Arabxilla“ entranced with its ballad-driven sexiness, theatricality, and pop appeal. In addition we’re looking forward to the trained percussionist and violinist John Roberts. With his deep house productions on the Hamburg-based label Dial, Roberts has developed a remarkable trademark sound within the last few years. While our in-house art expert Deviant Groove will kick-off the party with his tunes, the flying Dutchman Matthew Dekay is responsible for the closing. As the partner in crime of Lee Burridge his sets with a selection between Burial, Robag Wruhme and a variety of new gems are always a guarantee for smiling faces on our Boiler Floor. Free your mind and your ass will follow!

But we won’t let you go without the proper techno spanking: The Berlin-based Milton Bradley will assure some four-to-the-floor madness with the special acid touch. A permanent guest of STATTBAD, his releases on his own imprint Do Not Resist The Beat!, his Alien Rain project as well as his sometimes nostalgic sets are safe harbors in terms of ecstasy. After celebrating his birthday with us in May, Ed Davenport will return with one of his soulful and drama-interested sets. The label boss of Counterchange Recordings not only joined forces with American producer Function just recently – their release „Odeon/Rhyl“ is already one of 2014’s finest –, Davenport is also part of the re-launch of the renowned label Infrastructure New York. His DJ sets are true journeys with a high narrative mind and a lot of interest in techno right and left of the usual banging. Finally, our talented resident Viktoria is on closing duties. After she just founded her own label Viktoria Records there are sufficient reasons to celebrate the end of this year’s season. Our summer starts with a boom.
