About "Marcelo D2 & Samba Drive"Nothing can stop Marcelo D2. This goes back a long way. Since he emerged in the music scene with Planet Hemp, more than 25 years ago, the career of this original rapper, born and raised in the streets of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has only been evolving. Since the early mixes of punk rock with rap, after with samba and MPB, from favela to urban sounds, Marcelo D2 has been revolutionizing Brazilian hip-hop scene and identity.D2 is the innovator behind the most seamless blend of samba and hip-hop. Throughout his 25-year long, multi-million selling international career, he has been a force to be reckoned with both live and in the studio. His lyrics take the audience to a place of criticism that stems from hope, and social observation that leads to a call for change through self-reliance, awareness and positivity, a message that has taken him all over the world.After so much sonic experimentation, he's back to the core elements of his musical fusion: the sound of Brazilian rhythms, samba-jazz trios of the 60's he's always loved and often sampled, and everything hip-hop.
