Bordello Bizarre

Berlin Nightlife Is Getting Weirder
The underground nightlife of Berlin has always been pretty weird, dating back to the wilde Bühne of the 1920’s to the illegal raves of the 80’s and the GPS parties of the 00’s. So why is everyone complaining that Berlin nightlife is so mainstream and boring?
Wildness is back in Berlin’s nightlife. Several weird off-center party concepts have launched of the capital’s underground. Bordello Bizarre is the newest of them, happening for the second time on December 8th.
“The interesting story is how the ‘boring’ trend is reversing and Berlin nightlife is going back to its weird wild heart, with parties that are combining immersive performance, live music and costumes with traditional DJ sets.”, says Joseph Turian, Producer of Bordello Bizarre.
Bordello Bizarre continues and exaggerates the trend of Berlin nightlife returning to its wild roots, with events that are more participatory than a normal DJ night. By the end of the night, no one really knows who is a performer and who is a party-goer. Similar “weird” events include:
Pornceptual is one of the oldest, and mixes sexuality with art and performance.
House Of Red Doors is coming up on its two year anniversary. This party grew out of performers with relationships with Renate.
KitKatClub’s clubnacht has recently been booking jazz bands to play by the pool bar, and live improvised music in the basement. Singer Shamari Rocka, at a recent gig with DJ Himself, got on the microphone and led the entire basement in a sing-along. “KitKatClub choir, let me hear you say ‘oo oo oo!’”.
Bordello Bizarre announces its second party in Berlin. The “upside-down cabaret” party both lampoons and embraces club culture, and includes DJs Mimi Love and Annie O, as well as:
Opera music performed to a house beat
live drawing by a former DC Comics artist
Upsetting, off-putting burlesque by Aja Jane
Die Wilmersdorfer Witwe “put-pocket” who slyly leaves thank-you notes and drink tickets in guests’ pockets.
Bordello Bizarre is December 8th at Bassy Club in Berlin.
