New Codes Pt.2

To preface its takeover of the entire Kraftwerk industrial complex in the third week of August, Berlin Atonal presents New Codes: a weekend of advanced techno and forward-looking electronic music in the 3 rooms (Tresor, Globus and OHM) that will also be activated for the festival aftershows in August.

Friday, July 25, sees Surgeon in the vault alongside Milton Bradley’s alterego Alien Rain, while upstairs Chain Reaction stalwart and dub techno innovator René Löwe (aka Vainqueur) will let his improbably deep echoes expand to fill the Globus floor before Deadbeat + Tikiman’s massively acclaimed collaboration gets a live airing. The floor will be rounded off by an as-yet unannounced special guest. While all this is going on, the lynchpin of Bristol’s electronic music scene Peverelist will play all night in OHM.

On the following night, Saturday 26, New Codes hosts a triple-header in the vault: Downwards boss Regis and the enigmatic Abdulla Rashim will sandwich a special Kangding Ray live set. The Globus floor will match the pull from downstairs with two big live shows: Drexciya co-creator Gerald Donald and workmate To-Nhan as Dopplereffekt, and dark and minimal analogue legend TM404, while Brooklynites Aurora Halal and Ital will present a collaborative show in OHM.

To round off the weekend, on Sunday 27, CONTORT has been called in to organise a party at OHM. Featuring Inner8, Shadows, Kerridge vs Shapednoise, Stave, Nina and Plagium, it promises to continue the experimental spirit for which CONTORT parties have become greatly acclaimed.
